St. Louis’ Alberici hires vice president of safety

St. Louis-based construction firm Alberici has hired Shelley Scalzo Brown as vice president of safety. In this role she will oversee the implementation of the company’s industry-leading safety program and build on their “Make It Personal” safety approach that focuses on personal ownership and accountability for safety.

Scalzo Brown is a Certified Safety Professional with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Her previous experience includes corporate safety director at Bergelectric in Carlsbad, Ca. and vice president, SH&E director at AECOM where she provided leadership and direction for their North American infrastructure consulting business.

Scalzo Brown’s role will focus on advancing the company’s safety program and safety culture throughout North America. In 2023, Alberici was recognized by the Associated General Contractors’ (AGC) Construction Safety Excellence Awards in recognition of an exemplary safety program.

Scalzo Brown earned a master’s degree in public health from San Diego State University and a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from University of San Diego.  She serves on the National Safety Council’s Board of Delegates and the Associated General Contractors of America’s steering committee for diversity, equity and inclusion.
