COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on every aspect of the economy, and the commercial real estate industry is not immune. During the past few weeks, brokers of St. Louis-based Pace Properties have received many notices of real estate representatives either laid off or furloughed.
These real estate representatives exemplify the best in America. While it is devastating to the company making the difficult decisions to save their business, it’s equally trying on the employee and their families. While there are certainly many paths for individuals looking for work, Pace Properties wanted to create a specific place to acknowledge the people now seeking employment who have been extraordinarily loyal and excellent to work with for years.
As a result, Pace Properties created a ‘CRE Employment Exchange’ web page on the Pace Properties website.
“We are inspired to showcase the representatives we work with that have unfortunately lost employment due to COVID related downsizing,” said Patrick Willett, senior vice president for brokerage with Pace Properties. “Along with sharing their resumes with other retail real estate departments, our brokers and the entire team are directing retailers and landlords to this website in case they are looking to hire. It’s difficult for our brokers to see well-respected colleagues who have diligently served our industry succumb to COVID-19-related downsizing.”
While inspired by representatives losing employment, the CRE Employment Exchange is not limited to representatives. All aspects of commercial real estate are welcomed, including but not limited to property managers, accounting representatives and maintenance technicians, to name a few.
As anticipated, when the tide turns, companies will begin to seek out the best of the best in the commercial real estate industry. Pace Properties also encourages companies to share open positions in hopes to serve as a CRE matchmaking service.
Companies searching for qualified individuals as well as those who have encountered job loss are encouraged to email their open positions or resume to:
