Maggie Farrell has rejoined St. Louis-based S. M. Wilson & Co. as Community Engagement Manager to lead the firm’s SKILLED® Construction Career Education program.

During her previous six-year tenure with S. M. Wilson, Farrell served in several key roles, including Human Resources Manager, Diversity and Human Resources Manager, and SKILLED Administrator. Her work to expand access to skilled career pathways across Missouri earned top industry honors, including recognition as an Inclusion Champion by the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers and a Hero in Diversity by St. Louis Small Business Monthly. Most recently, she spent time advancing workforce development as Program Manager for the MO Works Initiative’s statewide Apprenticeship Ready Manufacturing Program.

In her new role, Farrell will oversee S. M. Wilson’s youth mentoring, workforce development, and community outreach strategies. Operating at the intersection of community engagement, human resources, and business development, she will lead program execution and storytelling for SKILLED—strengthening the regional talent pipeline, elevating brand visibility, and advancing the firm’s “Beyond the Build” commitment across Missouri and Illinois.

S. M. Wilson established its SKILLED Construction Career Education program in 2019 to inspire the future of construction. The full-pipeline workforce initiative is designed to inspire, train and elevate current and future talent for the architecture, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry. In 2025 alone, SKILLED reached more than 12,000 students; provided $31,000 in college loan, college savings and tuition reimbursement support; and delivered more than 500 hours of training, leadership development, coaching and advancement for employees.

Farrell’s accomplishments during her first tenure with S. M. Wilson included bringing CPR and First Aid training in-house, building the firm’s onboarding process, implementing an online learning management system and developing its intern and mentor orientation programs. Her strong industry involvement includes Missouri Women in Trades (MOWIT) board member and Advisory Board member for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis’ St. Louis Internship Program (SLIP). She has also held volunteer leadership roles with the Associated General Contractors of Missouri, Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis and Alive and Well Communities.

Farrell is a graduate of the FOCUS St. Louis Emerging Leaders program and holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from Saint Louis University.
