Jeffrey A. Raday, P.E., President of McShane Construction Company, announced that Charlie Stone has joined the firm as Business Development Manager – Food and Beverage. He offices at McShane Construction’s headquarters in Rosemont, Illinois, and provides strategic leadership in the pursuit, pre-construction and implementation of the firm’s growing food and beverage opportunities on a local, regional and national basis.
A highly-respected industry veteran, Stone offers over 30 years of experience serving in a variety of capacities within the food and beverage and distribution industries. Throughout his career, he has developed keen insights on the various expectations and requirements of profitable food and beverage operations and distribution efficiencies. His expertise includes sustainable and LEED-Certified facility design and construction, food supply chain, workflow optimization and streamlined warehousing and distribution practices.
Most recently, Stone served as Director of Distribution Services at Golden State Foods, one of the largest diversified suppliers to the foodservice industry supporting 100+ customers and 125,000 restaurants including McDonald’s, whom they have been serving for more than 60 years. The firm’s substantial growth necessitated the construction of a new 165,230 square foot build-to-suit facility that was completed under Stone’s leadership in May 2014. He played a pivotal role in the design and construction of the contemporary freezer/cooler facility that features numerous innovative design elements and sophisticated technology including a CO2 cascade refrigeration system, state-of-the-art hydrogen generation plant and shrinkage-compensating concrete floors. The build-to-suit represents the first LEED-Gold facility within the McDonald’s system worldwide.
In addition, Stone was the Vice President of Operations at Van Eerden Foodservice Company where he was responsible for streamlining logistics and warehousing efficiencies at multiple operations. He also served in various capacities at Alliant Foodservice, Inc.; Martin-Brower Company; PYA/Monarch Food Service; and McLane Company.
“We are delighted to welcome Charlie Stone to the McShane organization as our food and beverage industry leader,” remarked Raday. “Given his experience, I am confident that Charlie will provide the integration of new construction with improved operations to yield higher productivity, operational savings and greater return on investment for our prospects and clients. He is also a key contributor to our future growth and strategic planning within this market.”
