Chicago general contractor Summit Design + Build, LLC recently began restoring the Olympia Building,611-613 N. Wells St. in Chicago’s River North neighborhood.
The adaptive reuse project from Hawkins Way Capital will repurpose the 25,000-square-foot building, formerly a SRO, into a new boutique hotel.
The FOUND Hotel will have 60 guest rooms on floors two through four, a restaurant and café on the first floor, and a speakeasy style bar in the basement, with high-end finishes throughout.
“The most important part of the project for us is preserving the façade and restoring the building to its natural beauty,” said Ari Killian, senior project manager, Summit Design + Build. “NORR [Architects] has created a design that maintains some of the historic charm of Chicago and the neighborhood, which is what makes adaptive reuse projects like this so great.”
Summit Design + Build, who initially handled the preconstruction, was retained to complete further stages of construction including the restoration of the exterior façade, interior and exterior structural reinforcement, replacement of all windows and the interior build-out.
NORR Architects are providing architectural services for the project.
