Summit Realty Group’s headquarters, the 100-year-old 241 North Penn Building in Indianapolis, has earned a double LEED Gold certification. This makes the building the first in Indiana to earn this level of green certification.
Summit earned the certification for its environmentally friendly methods of renovating the four-story building in downtown Indianapolis.
The project is the first in the state to have earned a rebate of 50 percent of its building-permit fees through the Indianapolis Green Building Incentive Program.
Originally built in 1909 as the Pennway Building, the building stood vacant for 10 years before Summit bout it in 2010. The company spent about $3.3 million on the property’s purchase and renovation. Summit moved its employees into the building in the spring of 2011.
