Commercial real estate veteran Hal Ball, senior vice president and principal with St. Louis’ Hilliker Corporation, has been named one of Small Business Monthly’s “100 St. Louisans You Should Know to Succeed in Business” for 2024.

This recognition highlights Ball’s career and impact on the St. Louis business landscape.

Ball’s journey began in 1985, joining Hilliker Corporation at its founding. Since then, he’s orchestrated over 900 successful transactions, encompassing major retail centers, office towers, and industrial facilities.

One recent deal exemplifies Ball’s unique talent. He brokered the sale of a 132,000-square-foot industrial space, navigating a complex web of challenges: state subsidies, repurposing, zoning changes, railway issues, metric conversions, language barriers, and even partial demolition. The successful outcome established an Italian plastics manufacturer in the U.S. for the first time, while creating dozens of new jobs in St. Louis.

Beyond deal-making, Ball is a dedicated leader in the industry. He’s been a member of the St. Louis chapter of SIOR since 2000, serving as its president in 2010. His achievements include “St. Louis Commercial Realtor of the Year” (2008), consistent “Power Broker” designation by CoStar, and the “Largest Retail Sale Award” by the St. Louis Commercial Board of Realtors (2016).

Ball’s commitment extends to the St. Louis community. He serves on the board of Citizen’s National Bank in Maplewood, volunteers with the Fair St. Louis Parade (since 1999) and contributes to the Rossman School Advisory Board and the St. Louis Regional Freightway Committee.
