Target opens smaller-format store in Hyde Park

A fifth “flexible format” Target store has opened in Chicago. The new 20,000-square-foot Hyde Park store recently celebrated a ribbon cutting with Illinois State Senator (13th District), Kwame Raoul, and 5th Ward Alderman Leslie A. Hairston in attendance.

Novak Construction performed design-build services for the MEPFP trades and served as general contractor for the new small format Target. The store occupies the first floor of a mixed-use building, located within Vue53, 1330 E. 53rd Street, and will offer products selected to cater to the University of Chicago students and Hyde Park neighborhood residents.

This is Novak’s second Hyde Park project this year. In June, Novak Construction completed the new Whole Foods Market store at City Hyde Park, another longtime client for whom Novak has done nearly three dozen stores.

The Target project was led by Director, Jim Hempleman, and included Superintendents, Kelly Curry, Robert Hillyard and Jeff Potter; Project Manager, Bob Burris; Project Engineer, Jeff Zhang; and Contract Administrator, Angela Campisi.
