Matthew Tarshis has been promoted to principal at Chicago-based Frontline Real Estate Partners. Tarshis joined the firm in July 2013 as an associate and most recently held the position of executive vice president.
“Matt has been an anchor for our company. His loyalty, collaborative nature and leadership are invaluable to our team and our clients,” said Joshua Joseph, principal. “It’s never easy to start a second career, but Matt instilled trust with team members and clients, cultivated lasting relationships and demonstrated not only proficiency for our business, but a passion that benefited his career, and was also instrumental to Frontline’s growth. I look forward to what’s next for Frontline with Matt as a partner.”
Tarshis began his career as a trader and was a managing partner and director of trading operations at Passaglia Trading for nearly a decade prior to joining RKF Chicago’s retail brokerage team. After a year supporting RKF’s brokerage team with landlord and tenant representation activities, he joined Frontline in July 2013 as an associate.
“Matt came on board early in his CRE career and was responsible for leasing the company’s owned portfolio consisting of retail properties,” said Joseph. “Fast forward to 2019 and he was now disposing over $60,000,000 in commercial assets including single-tenant and multi-tenant shopping centers, office buildings, industrial warehouses, multifamily properties and mixed-use properties. He’s proven himself a committed team member, a thought leader and a valued advisor.”
In his new role as principal, Tarshis will continue to oversee brokerage, management, acquisitions and dispositions for the company, as well as the leasing of a portfolio consisting of over 3 million square feet of retail, office, industrial and mixed-use properties, a management portfolio of 2.5 million square feet and an investment sales team selling approximately 20 to 25 deals across multiple asset classes at any given time. Tarshis represents both tenants and landlords, REITs, private equity firms, multi-national corporations, family offices, banks, special servicers, debt funds and private owners throughout the country and provides strategic solutions along with consulting and advisory services.
In addition to acting as a broker and advisor to dozens of lenders and special servicers, Tarshis serves as a court-appointed receiver across the country and is a trusted fiduciary and advisor in complex foreclosure and bankruptcy situations. He also oversees Frontline’s owned portfolio across the Chicagoland area which consists of over 1 million square feet in property.
“I am excited to become a partner at Frontline and continuing to help lead our company in the future,” said Tarshis. “The collaborative and supportive nature of this team deserves a good deal of credit for the success of our organization. I appreciate the opportunity Frontline gave me early in my career and that they have continued to offer me at every turn. I’m looking forward to helping our clients and the team continue to thrive as we move forward.”
