Fast-growing tech company Rocketmiles continues to accelerate its growth at 641 W. Lake Street in Chicago’s West Loop. Colliers International | Chicago’s Corby Marx and Chris Freeman recently completed the company’s second expansion in as many years. The latest lease for 7,181 square feet brings Rocketmiles’ total square footage at the property to 17,665 square feet.
“Rocketmiles enjoys the unique character of the building and its convenient access to public transportation as well as the popular Fulton Market neighborhood,” said Marx, a senior vice president with Colliers | Chicago.
In late 2015, Rocketmiles moved into a 5,700-square-foot space and two years later expanded its footprint. Marx and Freeman were challenged to find creative ways to accommodate the rapid growth via a mixture of expansion rights throughout the building. “Rocketmiles has more than tripled its space at the building in the last four years. Maintaining their culture through the growth was especially important,” said Freeman.
During lease negotiations, 641 West Lake Street—a five-story, 110,707-square-foot building—was sold by R2 Companies and Walton Street Capital to Chicago-based Heitman as part of a three-building portfolio. “Both R2 and Heitman remained great partners throughout the process,” said Marx.
Rocketmiles has offices in Chicago’s West Loop and New York City. The company lets travelers earn frequent flier miles in major airline programs when booking hotel stays through its site.
