The Meuse has officially broken ground on its 70,000-square-foot retail district in Fredericksburg, Texas, marking a significant milestone for the 22-acre mixed-use destination in the Texas Hill Country.

The groundbreaking coincides with the announcement of several carefully curated Texas-based and locally rooted tenants, reinforcing the project’s commitment to assembling a retail mix that reflects the heritage, craftsmanship, and independent spirit that define Fredericksburg and the greater Hill Country.

Newly announced tenants include Double D Ranch, Fischer & Wieser, and Jackson Ballard Gallery, further strengthening The Meuse’s vision as a destination rooted in authenticity, craftsmanship, and the cultural fabric of Fredericksburg.

Fischer & Wieser is an award-winning, nationally recognized specialty foods company based in Fredericksburg, Texas. Family-owned and operated since 1969, the legacy family business is known for its premium jams, jellies, sauces, salsas, mustards, and other specialty food products distributed nationwide. The company’s roots trace back to 1928, when German immigrant J.B. Wieser planted a small Texas Hill Country peach orchard, the beginning of a legacy grounded in Texas agriculture and flavor.

Fischer & Wieser has grown from its orchard beginnings into a respected culinary brand while remaining a cornerstone of the Fredericksburg community. Its presence reflects both the region’s rich farming traditions and its continued evolution as a destination for food, hospitality, and heritage. The brand will occupy an existing home on the site, reflecting the commitment to preserving the authentic local charm and history that make Fredericksburg unique.

Also joining the development, Double D Ranch will open a 2,479-square-foot retail location. The Texas-based luxury Western fashion house, brings a storied legacy rooted in small-town Yoakum, Texas, where the family-founded brand began more than three decades ago. Known for its bold designs and quality craftsmanship featuring hand embroidery, beading, and embellished details, Double D Ranch has built a national following while remaining deeply connected to its Texas roots.

Jackson Ballard Gallery will showcase a curated collection of American Folk Art and Vintage Southwest works within the historic Sunday House on the property. A native of Oklahoma and longtime New Mexico resident, Ballard draws inspiration from the people, landscapes, and culture of the Southwest, with early influences rooted in the Taos and Santa Fe art movements of the 1900’s. Now a Fredericksburg resident, his work continues to reflect the spirit of the Southwest while being shaped by his life as a local artist and active member of Fredericksburg’s creative community.

These tenants join previously announced Lucchese Bootmaker and Padre’s Wine Company, creating a diverse and elevated mix of fashion, food, wine, art, and everyday gathering spaces.

Located at the corner of U.S. Highway 290 and Main Street, The Meuse is a 22-acre, thoughtfully designed luxury development anchored by the Kimpton Fredericksburg Hotel, currently under construction. The project’s 70,000-square-foot retail district will feature curated shops, artisan markets, tasting rooms, and chef-driven dining experiences. Retail construction broke ground January 2026 construction with completion expected in late 2027.

Retail leasing is led by Colliers Houston, Wade Greene and Hannah Schiro.
