The Missner Group and Baker Development break ground for First Ascent in Chicago

The Missner Group, LLC and joint-venture partner, Baker Development Corporation (BDC), announced the groundbreaking of the new 25,000 square foot fitness facility for First Ascent at 3516 N. Spaulding in Chicago. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday, October 30, 2014.

First Ascent is a local, community-focused climbing gym catering to climbers of all levels throughout Chicago. The new building, constructed by The Missner Group, will feature climbing, yoga and fitness facilities. The facility will include a 60′ high climbing area with Walltopia-designed climbing terrain; top rope and lead walls with overhangs, roofs, slabs and cracks; 5,000 square feet of stand-alone bouldering with caves, prows and overhangs; and a yoga studio. In addition, The Missner Group will construct a 7,000 square foot mezzanine for a training center with system boards and slacklines as well as a full-body fitness area. The center will also include a cafĂ©, pro-shop, locker rooms and community spaces.
