The Missner Group has been selected for a capital improvement project at Continental Towers located at 1701 Golf Road in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows. The property is owned by Glenstar Properties, LLC and Walton Street Capital.
Continental Towers is a 910,000 square foot, Class A office complex comprised of three, 12-story towers and is situated on a 34-acre site. The Missner Group will be completing renovations to both the interior and exterior of the complex, which will be finished in multiple phases.
Currently underway, the first phase includes numerous interior improvements to the complex’s common areas. Each of the three lobbies will be renovated and feature dramatic and decorative drop ceilings. Extensive and elaborate millwork will also be incorporated into the newly improved elevator lobbies and the buildings’ common area restrooms will be modernized. Phase one of construction is expected to be complete by November 2014.
Beginning in spring 2015, The Missner Group will commence phase two of the renovation which will encompass significant renovations to the property’s exterior. The improvements include the construction of a new main entrance, new canopied entry ways to each of the three buildings, covered pick-up/drop-off areas and additional landscaping. The Missner Group will also clean and re-seal the exterior of the buildings, add new accents to the building façade as well as incorporate decorative lighting to highlight the buildings’ parapets. A new five-story parking structure will also be added on the site.
“One of the most challenging elements of this renovation is the addition of the parking facility which will be erected over the existing detention pond,” said Glen Missner, executive vice president of The Missner Group. “In order to construct the building above the pond, we will utilize 90-foot deep caissons which will keep the work area dry and allow us to build a foundation above the water level. It’s a significant project and we are pleased to have again been selected to work with both GlenStar and Walton Street.”
The construction team for The Missner Group will be led by Missner, Vice President of Construction Drue Stoehr, Project Engineer Uros Stojakovic and site superintendent Gary Bertoncini. Archideas is providing the architectural services for the renovation project.
