The Opus Group today announced the start of construction on a seven-story, 167-unit multifamily development in the Village of Downers Grove, a western suburb of Chicago. The development, at 926 Maple Ave., is in the southeast corner of downtown Downers Grove, with convenient access to restaurants, shops, parks and the Metra rail station. A groundbreaking ceremony for the property was held yesterday.
Located at the corner of Washington St. and Maple Ave., the 259,000-square-foot building includes two levels of recessed and above-grade parking, with 319 total spaces, including 71 dedicated spaces for a neighboring church.

The apartment building will focus on resident wellness and will seek Fitwel certification as well as National Green Building Standard certification. It will feature a full set of amenities, including work-from-home suites, a club room with a full kitchen, gaming areas, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a conference room and a coffee bar. An outdoor pool on the third level will feature pool-side cabanas, a grilling area and outdoor kitchen, seating areas and firepits. Pet-friendly amenities include a pet spa and an outdoor dog run.
The unit mix includes alcoves, one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom units. Units will feature luxury finishes, including vinyl plank flooring, accent-color cabinets, solid surface countertops and stainless steel appliances.
The project is a joint venture between Opus and Principal Real Estate Investors.
