Thornton Tomasetti adds vice president

Emily Kunkel

Emily Kunkel has been brought on board as a vice president in Thornton Tomasetti’s Applied Science practice to help grow its decarbonization business. She will focus on expanding the firm’s presence in the carbon capture, use and storage and transportation sectors.

Kunkel, based in the firm’s Chicago office, has more than 10 years of professional experience and specializes in post-combustion carbon capture applications. Her background includes the execution of CCUS feasibility and U.S. Department of Energy-funded front-end engineering design studies and the management of large-scale CCUS development projects.

Most recently she was a manager, carbon capture technical advisor with Sargent & Lundy. Emily has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and is a professional engineer in Illinois.
