People aren’t moving to the Midwest in big numbers — well, except for Chicago.
That’s according to the latest research by national moving company Penske.
Each year, Penske ranks the top moving destinations in the United States. Atlanta topped this list in 2014, followed by Tampa/Sarasota, Dallas/Fort Worth, Phoenix and Orlando.
Chicago was the only Midwest city ranked in the top 10 of moving destinations last year, pulling up in the ninth spot, just ahead of 10th-place finisher Las Vegas.
Why weren’t more Midwest cities on the list? Blame it partly on those cold winter days.
Don Mikes, Penske senior vice president of truck rental, said that many of the top-10 moving destinations boast warm weather. They don’t get many early February blizzards.
