Coffees and cocktails in the lobby. Tacos and margaritas overlooking First Horizon Park. These are just a couple of the experiences coming to Starling, the 363-unit luxury residential tower in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood.
National developer Portman announced that Retrograde Coffee and Social Cantina as the latest concepts for the project. Starling’s first units will deliver in January 2024, with the full project opening in March 2024.
Retrograde Coffee, a popular go-to neighborhood coffee shop, will become the first cafe in Nashville to front the Cumberland River Greenway. Known for its locally roasted coffees, as well as artisan pastries, house-made sourdough bagels and sandwiches, Starling will mark the brand’s third Nashville location. At Starling, the concept will introduce an elevated food and drink experience that includes craft cocktails and weekend brunch.
Social Cantina, a modern Mexican restaurant and tequila bar, will open its first Southeast location at Starling. With four other locations throughout Indiana, Social Cantina will bring its fresh and vibrant menu to Nashville and feature freshly prepared tacos, bowls, salads, sizzling fajitas and more. A collection of more than 150 bottles of tequila and mezcal will also be offered. The 5,500-square-foot space will feature a massive 100-seat patio overlooking the greenway and baseball stadium.
Portman’s plans for Starling include an expansion of the Cumberland River Greenway to directly connect pedestrians with the 17,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Construction on the Greenway expansion will be in Q2 2024. The tower will feature state-of-the-art amenities, including a game room, library, coworking space and rooftop pool deck overlooking First Horizon Park.
Also in Nashville, Portman recently announced plans for Eleven North, a three-tower residential development that will bring 1,475 new multifamily units. The towers will feature up to 60,000 square feet of space for retail and restaurants, ultimately creating an activated ground-floor experience fronting the Gulch Greenway. Groundbreaking one the first tower is planned for 2025.
In April, Portman completed construction of The Moore Building, a 16-story Class-A office building in the heart of Nashville’s iconic Music Row district. Located within walking distance of Broadway, The Moore Building features 236,000 square feet of office space and 8,500 square feet of ground-floor retail.
