A reception and celebration of Brad’s life will follow the funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. at Wayzata Country Club at 200 Wayzata Blvd. in Wayzata, Minnesota.

Here are excerpts from Hoyt’s official obituary, published on the website of Washburn-McReavy funeral home:

A graduate of Bloomington Jefferson High School in the class of 1971, Brad began his professional journey working as a roofer for the family business, Hoyt Construction, a role he took great pride in. His entrepreneurial spirit and vision led him to co-found Hoyt Development with his brother Steve. He would later go on to form Continental Property Group. Brad’s career as a real estate developer was distinguished not only by his business acumen but also by his remarkable talent for architectural planning. He brought creativity and precision to every project he touched. He was a deal maker, his thought process for executing them was intensely imaginative.

Brad was a man of many talents and boundless energy. He was a race car driver, pilot, captain, mechanic, and tradesman-each role embraced with enthusiasm and skill. His love for auto racing was matched by his passion for boating and traveling. A dedicated car collector, Brad found joy in the beauty and mechanics of fine automobiles. Whether navigating the skies or the open water, he approached life with an adventurous spirit and an unquenchable curiosity.

Those who knew Brad often described him as larger than life. He was an epic storyteller whose tales could captivate any room. His mind was brilliant-fascinating in its depth and range-and he used it generously to help others. Brad’s heart was just as expansive; he gave freely of himself to friends and family alike. He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.

Brad cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife Heidi; daughters Jennifer Emerson (Paul), Betsy Hoyt, Abby Hoyt; son Ben Hoyt; stepdaughters Celeste Cleppe and Chloe Cleppe; grandsons Aidan Emerson and Will Emerson; his brother Steve Hoyt (Paula) along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were dear to him.

He now joins in rest his parents Bruce and Gayle Hoyt; his brother Lawrence Hoyt; and sister Denise Johnson.

Brad lived fully-working hard, playing hard, always grateful for the blessings in his life. His faith sustained him throughout his journey; he knew God loved him deeply.

Brad will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who carry his spirit forward in their hearts.

Gifts may be made in memory of Brad to the Hoyt Fund for MDS Research(#11955); checks payable to U of M Foundation, PO Box 860266, Mpls, MN 55486
