The ONE luxe apartments complex at Wheeling Town Center officially opened in Wheeling, Illinois. CallisonRTKL served as the architect, working in partnership with Wheeling Town Center’s developer, The Lynmark Group. The residences are phase I of a two-part Wheeling Town Center master plan.
“Wheeling Town Center combines next-generation luxury apartments and amenities with food and beverage options, entertainment and public space, all within a compact walkable environment,” said Keith Campbell, CallisonRTKL vice president. “Being conveniently located next to the Wheeling Metra station and Wheeling’s robust civic, recreational and cultural functions further establishes Wheeling Town Center as the northern suburbs’ most exemplary transit-oriented development.”
The master plan includes the five-story residential apartment building with 301 luxury rental units arrayed around a large courtyard featuring a wide range of resort-like amenities. The apartment building wraps a six-story, 675-space parking deck for the residents and their guests. The site also incorporates a seven-screen movie complex with a full-service restaurant as well as 100,000 square feet of single-story retail, an early childhood learning center and a variety of casual restaurants.
“The focal point of the Town Center is the pedestrian-oriented Village Green. Surrounded by retail, restaurants and cafes, the Village Green provides visitors with a remarkable outdoor experience,” said Brad Friedman, director of Midwest operations, The Lynmark Group.
The Village Green offers plenty of reasons to linger with a live performance stage, seasonal flower beds, shade trees, pergolas and plenty of benches—all aiming to make Wheeling Town Center the village’s new downtown. The second phase of the Wheeling Town Center is expected to be completed in Fall 2019, and CallisonRTKL is providing architecture services for this second phase as well.
