Even as more employees continue to work from home, at least on a part-time basis, co-working companies are retaining a strong presence across the United States. And some of the biggest names in this industry haven’t been shy about expanding their presence in the country’s biggest cities.
Want evidence? CoworkingCafe recently released its year-end ranking of the largest U.S. coworking providers in 2022. The numbers show that these companies continued to open new locations even as the office market remains in limbo thanks to the still-strong work-from-home movement.
Which coworking company, then, has the most locations in the United States? That’d be Regus. CoworkingCafe reported that Regus was operating 832 coworking locations in the United States as of the end of 2022. That is more than three times the size of runner-up WeWork.
Regus doesn’t just have a strong presence in the United States, either. According to CoworkingCafe’s study, Regus operates 3,000 locations across the globe.
WeWork ranks second on CoworkingCafe’s list with 246 U.S. locations, part of the company’s 700-strong global portfolio. However, WeWork plans to reduce its U.S. locations this year, recently announced that it will end 40 of its leases as part of a consolidation plan.
Those are the two biggest names in the coworking space. But Industrious Office, which ranks third on CoworkingCafe’s list, has a sizable presence in the United States, too. This provider operates 135 coworking locations in nearly 40 U.S. cities.
Fourth-place finisher Spaces operates 117 U.S. locations as part of its overall portfolio of 466 coworking locations in more than 50 countries. Fifth-place provider Premier Workspaces operates 87 U.S. locations, while Office Evolution, the sixth-place finisher, operates 81 U.S. locations.
A pair of Texas-based coworking companies occupy the seventh and eighth positions on the list, with Houston-based Workstyle Flexible Spaces operating 67 U.S. locations and Addison, Texas-based HQ Global Workplaces operating 60.
HQ Global Workplace might move up this list for next year. The company is in growth mode, planning to open at least 19 U.S. locations during the next few quarters.
Intelligent Office ranks number nine with 45 U.S. locations, while another Midwest provider, Chicago-based Expansive Workspace filled the 10th spot with 43 U.S. locations.
