The second phase of the Wicker Park Connection is now underway, targeting a June 2018 opening. Projected to open at the same time as part of the project are a small-format Target and a Salon Lofts, a beauty and hair salon franchise.
Wicker Park Connection II will be a 15-story, 146-unit rental building. It follows the first, smaller building, a 60-unit rental community formerly known as Centrum Wicker Park, which was completed in fall 2016. Now known as Wicker Park Connection I, it includes retail space that will be anchored the Target store.
Developed by Chicago-based Hubbard Street Group, a public plaza will run between the two apartment buildings, creating a much-needed pedestrian link between Milwaukee Avenue and Division Street. Nearly one-third of the development’s 2.5 acres will be open space.
The opening of a 12,800-square-foot Target at 1664 W. Division Street was announced in December, and the retailer Just last week obtained formal approval from the Wicker Park Committee, a local community group.
