Wight & Company hires Robert Ijams as firm’s first Parks & Recreation director

Wight & Company announced that Robert Ijams has joined the firm as its first-ever director of Parks & Recreation.

The firm’s recent Illinois projects include the architecture, engineering, and construction management of award-winning LEED Platinum Knoch Knolls Nature Center in Naperville and the indoor/outdoor Iceland Sports Complex in Niles, as well as construction management of the restoration of the Lake Ellyn Boathouse in Glen Ellyn.

Ijams has experience leading teams through comprehensive master planning processes and is known for developing inventive and cost-conscious solutions for his clients. He has played a key role in the design and construction of more than 100 parks, athletic fields, trails, play environments, and indoor recreation facilities in northeastern Illinois.

Ijams is a Licensed Landscape Architect in Illinois. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture at Ball State University. He is a member of a number of industry organizations including the Illinois Association of Park Districts, Illinois Park and Recreation Association, National Recreation and Park Association, and South Suburban Park and Recreation Professional Association.
