Wight & Company has recently received industry recognition from multiple organizations for its leadership in the field of sustainability. Wight & Company’s role in designing and building the Naperville Park District’s new LEED Platinum-certified Knoch Knolls Nature Center has been garnering particular recognition.
Recent awards and accolades include:
- ENR Midwest magazine chose Knoch Knolls Nature Center for its “Best Projects 2015″ award in the category of Small Projects/Under $10 Million.
- American Institute of Architects/Northeast Illinois chapter bestowed a “Merit of Architecture” award in the category of Distinguished Buildings Over $3 Million this fall.
- Chicago Building Congress named the nature center as a runner-up in its 59th Annual Merit Awards Program.
- The Illinois chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) selected Knoch Knolls Nature Center for a 2015 “Excellence in Engineering” award for the nature center’s highly energy efficient HVAC system.
Wight & Company designed and built the award-winning Knoch Knolls Nature Center, which opened in late 2014, for client Naperville Park District.
The project was overseen by Wight & Company’s chief sustainability officer Lois Vitt Sale, who was recognized for her broader contributions to the field of sustainability recently by the U.S. Green Building Council, which honored Vitt Sale with the 2015 “Legendary Leader Award.”
