Thanks to help from the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation’s Green Grocer Project, Banner Supermarket in Detroit has started a $5.8 million expansion project that will nearly double the size of the grocery store to 40,000 square feet.
The grocery store sits at 14424 Schaefer Highway.
The store will add a pharmacy, bakery, hot-food deli and seafood counter.
The first phase of construction is expected to wrap in November, while the second phase will close early in 2015. The renovation includes a new entrance and parking lot.
