Zebra Technologies Corp. is moving its headquarters from 475 Half Day Road in Lincolnshire to a 230,000-square-foot space at 3 Overlook Point, also in Lincolnshire, in what is being reported as the largest suburban office lease of the year.
Bob Reaumond, an executive vice president at CBRE, confirmed a report by Crain’s Chicago Business that Zebra is subleasing 80 percent of the 290,143-square-foot building at 3 Overlook from Aon PLC into 2017. Zebra also will remain at that location beyond 2017 under a long-term lease with the tower’s owner, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., according to Reaumond, who represented Aon.
According to the Crain’s report, Zebra’s lease is the largest new office lease signed in Chicago’s suburbs since August 2012, when pharmacy benefits manager Catamaran Corp. signed a headquarters deal to fill the 300,000-square-foot Windy Point II building in Schaumburg.
Zebra designs and manufactures thermal printers, radio frequency identification products and real-time locating systems. Incorporated in 1969, the company has 50 offices worldwide and has shipped more than 11 million printers to customers in more than 100 countries, according to its Web site. In addition to 475 Half Day Road, Zebra also will leave an office it currently leases at 333 Corporate Woods Parkway in Vernon Hills.
