This December, Midwest Real Estate News will present its second Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame, honoring more than 50 of the industry’s top names. It’s our most popular issue of the year.
We’ll also be running profiles of several of our Hall of Fame inductees on Rejournals.com. Here’s a sample from our December issue.
Sara Behrman Director Bellwether Real Estate Capital Cincinnati
Experience matters in all markets. But in a commercial real estate market that’s as challenging as today’s, it’s even more important.
Skill and knowledge helps, too. And this is why Sara Behrman is such an important asset to the Cincinnati office of Bellwether Real Estate Capital: She possesses all three attributes, in large quantities.
During her career in mortgage banking, Behrman has originated more than $2 billion in loans, primarily for multi-family projects. She’s also made an impact on the commercial real estate industry, creating Bellwether Real Estate Capital in 2008 with her partners. Before that, Behrman helped form the Cincinnati office of Capstone Realty Advisors, a challenge she took on in 1998.
In fact, her industry peers say that Behrman has shown a knack for commercial real estate since 1985, back when she started her career in the real estate department of what was then known as First National Bank of Cincinnati.
Today, Behrman relies on her more than 26 years in the industry to help lead Bellwether through a particularly challenging time. The good news for her colleagues at this company? There’s no one more qualified than Behrman — thanks, again, to that combination of experience, knowledge and skill — to guide the company through these turbulent times.
“Sara has always impressed,” said one nominator. “She’s never unprepared. And she’s always displayed a kind of calm leadership that brings out the best in everyone.”
The rest of the commercial real estate industry has recognized Behrman’s abilities, too. She has served, for instance, as a panelist for the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Apartment Association’s Financing Symposium and for the University of Cincinnati’s Real Estate Roundtable. In addition, Behrman has found time to give back to her community, donating many volunteer hours to a wide range of charitable endeavors.
