Each year, Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class into its Midwest Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Last year was no exception. Today, we look at one of those new inductees, Joseph Krusinski, chairman of Krusinski Construction Company in Oak Brook, Illinois.

The founder and chairman of Oak Brook, Illinois-based Krusinski Construction Company, Joseph Krusinski, has more than 50 years of experience in the construction industry. Since 1973, this industry pro has built his firm into one of the busiest construction companies in the Chicago area, one with a sterling reputation among developers and corporations across the country.

Today, Krusinski Construction’s national imprint spans across 20 states. The company is currently building in 14 states with projects stretching from Massachusetts to California.

What has kept Krusinski in this industry for so long? No day is ever boring, and growing a business remains a constant adventure.

“I enjoy the challenges that developing and sustaining a business present each day,” Krusinski said. “However, the most enjoyment is the lasting personal relationships that I have made over these many years with our clients, our trade partners and professional service providers and, most importantly, our KCC Team of construction professionals that have been so contributive to our success.”

Krusinski is one of the most respected leaders of the Chicago construction industry. He is a past president and a current director of the Chicago Building Congress, past president of the Builders Association of Chicago and past president of the Chicagoland Associated General Contractors AGC. He also serves on the board of directors for the Chicagoland Construction Safety Council and is past president and director of the Entrepreneur and Family Business Council at DePaul University.

It’s no surprise that Krusinski has been honored with many industry awards, including the Chicago Building Congress 2010 Award of Honor and the Richard G. Levy President’s Award from the SIOR Chicago Chapter in December of 2008. In 2004, he received the University of Illinois Loyalty Award for Exceptional Alumni Service from the University of Illinois at Chicago and was named to the President’s Council. In 2000, he was named to the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame sponsored by the University of Illinois at Chicago.

“My success centers on the success of Krusinski Construction Company, and we have been successful for a number of reasons,” Krusinski said. “First, our reputation as a trusted advisor to our clients. Next, and just as important, is our dedicated KCC team members who strongly believe in our core values and live them each day. One of my personal responsibilities is to communicate those values to everyone in our organization, and to emphasize to each new member of our team that they must adhere to the KCC Way which is based on our core values – Reputation, Teamwork, Caring, Do the Right Thing, Whatever it Takes and Fun.”

When not working, Krusinski prefers spending as much time as possible with his family. He has been married for more than 51 years. Krusinski has four children, three of whom work with him at Krusinski Construction Company. The couple has also been blessed with 12 grandchildren.
