Hamed Abu-Zaher has joined Deer Park, Illinois-based Government Investment Partners as head of International Capital Markets.
In this newly created role, Abu-Zaher will oversee fund-raising and partnership relationships outside of the U.S. with a specific focus on the Middle East. He will also join the firm’s Investment Committee.
GIP, based in suburban Chicago, is a vertically integrated real estate investment, development and management firm specializing in properties leased to federal, state and local government entities. The firm’s portfolio now totals more than 30 buildings in 18 states with corporate offices in Sacramento, Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Northwest Florida.
Abu-Zaher specializes in working with globally recognized fund managers to develop strategic capital partnerships, with a core focus on aligning investment opportunities with institutional capital. He previously spent 16 years with BNY Mellon, where he had led the bank’s expansion efforts throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council region, working from both New York and Dubai. He began his career as a management trainee at Fidelity Investments and later moved to Citibank where he spent six years as an investment manager for private banking clients.
