Kraus-Anderson Duluth has completed a $34.9 million renovation of Zenith DCHS, which converted Historic Old Central High School into a 122-unit mixed-income residential apartment building at 215 N. First Avenue East in downtown Duluth, Minnesota.
Designed by AWH Architects and owned by Saturday Properties, the four-story, 158,153-square-foot building boasts the city’s landmark clock tower and sweeping views of the Duluth Harbor.
From the basement to the belltower, the apartments feature unique design schemes inspired by the building’s history. Zenith DCHS includes a front porch, penthouse lounge, clubhouse, Lake Superior Lounge, Gallery Hall and Dean’s Office. Amenities also include a fitness center, sauna, co-working space, existing auditorium for flexible use and workshop with tool sharing and storage.
The iconic building, built in 1892 as Duluth Central High School (DCHS), is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Zenith DCHS’s renovation began in May of 2022.
