Witt Construction, serving as general contractor, completed construction of a D-BAT baseball and softball training facility at 3525 Layden Drive in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin.
The 13,700-square-foot indoor training facility is designed to provide year-round development opportunities for athletes across the Greater Green Bay area.
Witt Construction led the full scope of the project, including civil and architectural design, site work, building erection, and interior construction. Specialty training elements such as turf, nets, custom pitching machines and batting cages were installed separately.
“This project was a passion project for me,” said Ben Witt, owner of Witt Construction. “I serve as President of Denmark Youth Baseball and stay actively involved in the program. I coach my son’s 11U tournament and rec teams, help oversee the youth program, and assist with camps and clinics throughout the year. It’s a great way for me to stay connected to the game and give back to the community. D-BAT provides another great avenue to introduce youth to baseball and help grow that passion locally.”
The facility features ceiling heights ranging from 18 to 22 feet and includes six batting cages, four machine-operated cages including one HitTrax system, two pitching tunnels, a pro shop, and a conference and birthday party room. Turf is installed throughout all training areas, creating a professional-grade environment for players of all skill levels.
Construction began in August 2025, following the start of civil and architectural design in June. While initial site work progressed on schedule, global supply chain disruptions and tariff increases impacted the project timeline. Final completion was achieved in April 2026.
The project was developed in partnership with Park Place Holdings, which owns the property at 3500 Packerland Drive. The firm subdivided the parcel to create the new building site at 3525 Layden Drive through a streamlined survey process. Because Park Place Holdings already owned the land, it was able to pass cost savings along to its new tenant, D-BAT.
“Park Place Holdings has been an outstanding partner,” Witt added. “They consistently involve me in all aspects of their projects, from site selection and design through construction.
Communication is strong, collaboration is constant, and it truly feels like a team effort. That level of partnership is a big reason our projects together have been so successful.”
According to D-BAT Green Bay ownership, the facility represents more than just a place to train.
“As the owners of D-BAT Green Bay, we are thrilled to open our doors to the Ashwaubenon and Greater Green Bay community. To us, this isn’t just about batting cages, it’s about bringing the love of the game to every child who has ever wanted to pick up a bat or glove. Our mission — Develop Beliefs, Attitudes and Traditions — reflects the life lessons learned through the sport, including resilience, confidence and teamwork. We’ve created an accessible, family-friendly environment where athletes of all experience levels can grow their skills and passion for the game.”
The new D-BAT facility is expected to serve as a year-round destination for youth and amateur athletes, supporting the continued growth of baseball and softball in the region.
