The most affordable city in the Midwest in which to rent an apartment? It remains Akron, Ohio, according to the latest research from Zumper.
Zumper recently released its latest national rent report, which found that the median one-bedroom rent in Akron stood at $530 a month in March. That ranked as the lowest of any of the 100 big cities Zumper studied. The median two-bedroom rent in the city stood at $700.
The national one-bedroom rent jumped 0.5 percent in March to a median figure of $1,214. The national median two-bedroom rent jumped 0.6 percent to $1,445 On a year-to-date basis, the median national one-bedroom apartment rent jumped 2.8 percent, while the median national two-bedroom rent increased by 2.5 percent.
In little surprise, San Francisco was the most expensive city in which to rent in March. Zumper reported that the median one-bedroom rent here stood at $3,700 in the month, while the median two-bedroom rent was a sky-high $4,600.
The most expensive city in the Midwest in which to rent in March was also little surprise. In Chicago, the median one-bedroom rent hit $1,530 a month. That ranked Chicago as the 16th most expensive city in the country in which to rent a one-bedroom apartment. The median rent on a two-bedroom unit in Chicago was $1,880.
The next most expensive city in the Midwest was Minneapolis, where the median one-bedroom rent hit $1,400 in March. The median two-bedroom rent was $1,900 during the same month.
