Last December, Erie Neighborhood House introduced their entire staff to the new and improved motor skills room, kitchen and restrooms with a celebratory luncheon. The new facilities were built out by Novak Construction as the Chicago-based general contractor completed a remodel project at the non-profit’s community center just in time for the holidays.

Brian Paff, Erie House director of marketing and communications referred to the renovation as, “a holiday miracle, in terms of speed and efficiency as well as quality.”

Located in the heart of West Town at the corner of Superior and Paulina Streets, Erie House is a human services agency in Chicago that promotes a just and inclusive society, empowering its community through education and access to critical services and advocacy. The 28,000-square-foot building provides individuals and families across the city with access to early childhood education, citizenship classes and workshops for parents and caregivers.

“Novak Construction truly values and appreciates our long-standing relationship with Erie House,” said project manager, Byron DeBord. “When they reached out to us in early November about a project that needed to be bid, scheduled and completed, all by November 30, we wasted no time in partnering up to get the job done. By successfully meeting the end date, Erie House is able to claim their grant funding, and the students and faculty of Erie House are able to enjoy a beautifully renovated, multi-purpose room, kitchen and restrooms for years to come.”

In addition to DeBord, the project team was comprised by project director Jim Hempleman, project engineer Tom DeMoss and project superintendent Rick Drebing.
