Dominium, a Minneapolis-based apartment owner, developer and manager, held the grand re-opening of Courtyard Apartments in Cincinnati, on May 16. This re-opening celebrates a remodel of all 137 units and common spaces made possible by a partnership with the National Housing Trust.
The rehabilitation of Courtyard Apartments was a unique opportunity for Dominium to partner with the nonprofit organization, National Housing Trust, to help substantially improve the quality of housing for the residents of Courtyard Apartments. This project was made possible by the for-profit/nonprofit partnership of National Housing and Dominium.
Updates to the units include new flooring, cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, and heating and cooling systems. The first-floor common areas have also been fully remodeled including the addition of a fitness center, beauty salon, craft room, and laundry room. The remodeled community room includes a community kitchen, lounge seating, and a TV. Elevators were also upgraded with new cabs.
Courtyard Apartments’ exterior has also undergone a significant remodel. Patio areas have been renovated with new seating and landscaping and a large patio at the back of the building has been constructed complete with a pergola for shade. The entire skin of the building was removed and replaced with new materials, including the siding, roof, and windows. The front canopy was extended significantly to reduce the distance that residents would have to walk in the rain when leaving the building. The parking lot was repaved and restriped.
