Matanky Realty Group announced that senior vice president and director of brokerage, Terri Cox has closed on the sale of an 182,029-square-foot industrial building in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. The property, situated on 5.32 acres at 1443 W. 41st Street, sold for an undisclosed price to an undisclosed buyer.
Though the seller, MKM Enterprises, used the building as a cold and dry storage warehouse, the property had a much more historic past. From the 1800s through the 1900s, the building was owned and operated by meatpacking titan, Swift & Co. Though the building’s age and the client’s desired timeline added additional challenges, Cox successfully closed the sale in an eight-month period.
“It’s not often that I get to represent such a historic building,” said Cox. “We do a significant amount of work in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, as well as in other underserved markets, but this was an extremely unique opportunity.”
