Savills adds retail pro to Detroit office

Drew Chorney

Savills has added Drew Chorney as managing director of retail services to its growing Detroit office. His arrival launches Savills’ retail specialty in the region.

“Retail transactions represent more than 30% of all commercial real estate deals in Detroit,” said Executive Managing Director Greg Bockart. “Now more than ever, clients in all sectors are looking for a partner to help navigate the complexities of a commercial real estate market that’s been heavily impacted by COVID-19 and we are eager to tap into Drew’s extensive expertise in retail and other areas.”

Chorney has more than 16 years of commercial real estate experience, performing more than 500 transactions and working with household names such as Starbucks, Walmart, Kroger and Hyatt Hotels. As a four-time CoStar Power Broker honoree, Chorney has represented clients in projects totaling more than 5 million square feet of retail space and 300 acres of land.

Prior to joining Savills, Chorney oversaw the retail team as senior vice president at Colliers International. He also served as the national director of retail development services for JLL in the Midwest and mid-South and vice president of retail services at CBRE.

Along with Chorney, Savills recently added Associate Directors Shobit Gupta, Meghan O’Connor and Carter Cerretani to the office. All three will specialize in tenant representation, while Gupta will also take on the role of financial analyst.

The arrival of Chorney continues the expansion of retail services at Savills. The firm has additional retail teams across North America, including Los Angeles, New York, Washington, and Toronto.
