Commercial real estate might still be male dominated, but women continue to make strides every day toward a fully equitable future.
In celebration of the progress made and acknowledgement of the road ahead, REjournals gathered 20 of CRE’s most influential female leaders to speak at the 4th Annual Women in Real Estate Summit held on March 8 in Downtown Chicago’s Ivy Room.
Making this year’s event extra special? Together with cancer nonprofits Fighting Pretty and Gilda’s Club of Chicago, REjournals raised $600 for Fighting Pretty Strength & Beauty Kits, to be delivered to patients throughout Chicagoland.
Attendees were also able to show support through hands-on assembly of the kits before the program concluded with a simple toast: to the women in CRE, the work of Fighting Pretty and Gilda’s Club of Chicago and another year of growth.
“Of course there’s still a glass ceiling,” said JLL International Director Meredith O’Connor. “At the end of the day, women are different, at least in commercial real estate, and we offer a unique perspective. Why wouldn’t you want more women?”
“The event was a great success, and I’m proud of our industry and those who work effortlessly to advance and support women and DEI,” said REjournals Managing Director, National Events & Marketing Alyssa Gawlinski. “Each small crack we can put in the glass ceiling is one that will help to break it, and I hope that all in attendance left feeling empowered.”
REjournals would like to extend special appreciation to all who donated to Fighting Pretty.
