As the new Editor for Chicago Industrial Properties and Illinois Real Estate Journal, I am delighted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the publications’ readers.
My experience as an editor spans more than 10 years working for business-to-business publications as well as in the newspaper industry.
Most recently, I served as Senior Editor for the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) Journal in Des Plaines, IL. In that position, I managed multiple sections of the association’s monthly trade publication, including columns, features, press releases and local events. I also oversaw two monthly eNewsletters by writing and editing stories on several renewable energy topics, such as energy-efficient HVAC systems and green refrigerants.
I also served as Associate Editor for Contractor Magazine in Chicago, in which I wrote in-depth, national stories about mechanical and plumbing contractors engaged in innovative projects involving new energy-efficient technologies, including geothermal systems, radiant heat and solar.
I started in the journalism trade by working for the Chicago Sun-Times News Group’s Daily Southtown/Star Newspapers as a writer and eventually as an associate news editor. During that time, I wrote, edited and proofread copy for all of the newspaper’s editions and its Web site, which covered 52 communities in Chicago’s south suburbs.
