The Chicago Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) presented the Richard G. Levy President’s Award to Garry Weiss, Vice President and National Director of Business Development and Strategic Initiatives at ARCO/Murray.
The award was given at SIOR Chicago’s Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 1, 2023, and accepted by Garry’s son Matt Weiss. The event attracted more than 80 SIOR members, platinum sponsors and guests to the Glen View Club in Golf, Illinois.
The award was presented by Peter Billmeyer, President of the SIOR Chicago Chapter and Co-Founder and CEO of Bespoke Commercial Real Estate.
One recipient is chosen each year by the SIOR Chicago Chapter Executive Board as a member they feel exemplifies outstanding achievements both in and out of the commercial real estate industry. The award’s namesake, Richard G. Levy, SIOR, was a highly revered leader within the real estate community who typified professionalism, business acumen and strong personal and business ethics that represent the goals of each Chicago Chapter SIOR member.
Weiss is one of the most respected commercial real estate professionals in the industry and in the SIOR Chicago Chapter. In his prepared remarks he noted the tremendous respect that he has for Richard Levy, who he considered one of his early mentors and an industry “father figure.” The two worked closely together on Weiss’ first-ever industry transaction, and Weiss went on to a successful career with an industrial brokerage, capital markets and development focus with firms including First Industrial Realty Trust, JLL, and his own firm, GSW Ventures Ltd.
Weiss was also Head of Sales for Enova Decisions, an Analytics as a Services (AaaS) business unit within Enova International. Now, with ARCO/Murray, he delivers design-build services to corporations as well as institutional owners, operators and developers.
