Farmington Hills-based City Club Apartments hosted a grand-opening celebration June 17 for its City Club Apartments—Central Business District Detroit mixed-use apartment hotel community.
City of Detroit Deputy Mayor Conrad Mallett, restaurateur Joe Vicari and City Club Apartments’ founder, chief executive officer and Detroit native Jonathan Holtzman were among the speakers at the celebration.
“When we broke ground on this site, we promised to build the very best mixed-use apartment and penthouse community ever built in the City of Detroit,” said Holtzman. “There is no doubt that we have delivered.”
Located in the heart of the city at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Park Avenue facing Grand Circus Park and just steps from Comerica Park, Ford Field and dozens of restaurants, the site was once home to the 18-story, 800-room Statler Hotel. The historic hotel, which was built in 1915, hosted a who’s who list of business, sports, arts and entertainment and political guests for nearly six decades.
“When the Statler Hotel came down more than 16 years ago, we lost a great building on one of the most exclusive corners downtown,” said Deputy Mayor Mallett. “Now, thanks to City Club Apartments and our partners at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, this corner has been reborn in a thoughtful and impactful way.”
CBD Detroit Apartment Hotel includes 288 short- and long-term furnished and short-term unfurnished apartments and penthouses, 396 underground valet parking spaces with EV charging stations and 13,000 square feet of Washington Boulevard pet store and restaurant/bar indoor outdoor space. The community meets Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes Certification, is Clean Rated and is pursuing wellness certification.
The community’s resort-class amenities and services include a lobby lounge library with 24/7 concierge, entertainment clubroom, indoor theater, 24/7 Whole Body Fitness wellness room, 24/7 work-from-home business center and conference room.
The entertainment clubroom is a cool and energetic space offering both intimate and group seating options, a large screen TV, and a professional gourmet kitchen with Viking appliances and a private game room.
The indoor/outdoor heated pool with loungers, cabanas, hot tub and sauna opens through oversized garage doors to the large outdoor Terrace Club (courtyard) that features extensive landscaping and lighting, a high-end outdoor kitchen and bar, comfortable lounge seating, fire places, Zen Garden, Bark Park and a drive in-sized outdoor theatre that will show movies, sporting events and culture.
The Joe Vicari Restaurant Group will soon open the Statler Bistro, an American/French bistro and market on the first floor, with a planned opening of early fall 2021. The restaurant group, most widely known for its highly Andiamo and Joe Muer Seafood restaurants, is undertaking this fresh, new restaurant concept, which will occupy half of the first floor. The Statler Bistro will offer 175 seats.
Michigan-based Premier Pet Supply will open downtown Detroit’s first full-service pet supply store this summer. The new 3,000-square-foot Detroit store will face Grand Circus Park and will carry a full line of national products, specialty items and holistic goods.
