Coworking firm Convene plans to open a workplace location at Sterling Bay’s 311 W. Monroe Street in Chicago. The 45,000-square-foot upscale work environment, Convene’s second in Chicago following the opening at Citadel Center, will open this fall.

Featuring two full floors of flexible, fully-amenitized work suites and on-demand meeting space, 311 W. Monroe is a tailored, professional space designed to maximize comfort, productivity and collaboration. The venue will have 30 work suites in total, 16 meeting rooms covering 24,000 square feet and a total capacity for 600 workers. The state-of-the-art meeting space is fully outfitted with built-in technology and full-time production, IT and hospitality teams on site

Based in New York, Convene leased space within Citadel Center, 16 W. Adams Street, last summer and recently completed renovations on that location. The coworking firm plans to open two more locations in Chicago: a 55,000-square-foot venue at EQ Office’s Willis Tower that will open in May 2020 and at 333 N. Green Street, another Sterling Bay property now under construction in Fulton Market.

According to recent research by CBRE, the Chicago market ranks fourth in the nation for flexible office space by square footage. Between H2 2017 to H2 2018, the market’s flexible space footprint grew by 17 percent to 3.2 million square feet, with flexible space now accounting for 1.37 percent of Chicago’s total office inventory.
