David R. Kahnweiler, SIOR, chairman and chief executive officer of Colliers International | Chicago has announced the promotions of six brokerage professionals and three real estate management services professionals. The promotions acknowledge each individual’s success in fulfilling client requirements and contributing to the firm’s increasing market presence. The promotions are summarized below:
BROKERAGE
To Principal
Jonathan D. Kohn, 38, was named principal from executive vice president. This marks his fourth promotion in the last five years. Kohn has completed some of the largest lease and sale transactions in the O’Hare submarket over the past few years. He recently completed a 70,000-square-foot lease to Basic Enterprises at 2475 Touhy Avenue in Elk Grove Village and a 100,000-square-foot investment sale to Cabot Properties at 2075 Estes Avenue in Elk Grove Village. Kohn has received national recognition as a top 5% producer in the Industrial Advisory Group by Colliers USA in 2012 and 2013. He received his MBA in finance from the University of Texas (Austin) and currently resides in Chicago, IL.
Jason M. Simon, 32, received a rare double promotion from senior vice president to principal. Simon works in Colliers International’s Office Advisory Group, where he focuses on representing users and owners in the leasing of office space throughout the Chicago suburbs. In each of the past three years he was recognized by Colliers USA as an Everest Award Winner, an honor reserved for the company’s top 10% of producers nationally. Additionally, Simon was named Colliers Chicago’s top producer in the firm’s Office Advisory Group in 2014, completing over 50 transactions in that year alone. He recently completed a 48,000-square-foot full-building lease to Weber Stephen Products at 2900 Golf Road in Rolling Meadows, IL. Simon currently resides in Chicago, IL.
To Executive Vice President
Christopher T. Volkert, SIOR, 48, was promoted to executive vice president from senior vice president. Volkert has over 24 years of commercial real estate experience specializing in tenant/buyer representation, sale/leaseback, land sales, subleases and traditional industrial building sales and acquisitions in the Northern Suburbs, O’Hare and Lake County submarkets. He recently represented Worldwide Fittings in the 110,000-square-foot sale of 600 Corporate Woods in Vernon Hills. Volkert has been a consistent Colliers International Everest award winner over the years, which is reserved for the top 10% of the company nationally. Volkert is a graduate of Boston University and a current resident of Lake Bluff, IL.
To Vice President
John Basile, 38, was promoted to vice president from senior associate. Basile works in Colliers International’s Industrial Advisory Group, where he focuses primarily on the leasing, sale and development of industrial properties in the south and southwest suburban markets. He recently completed a 127,262-square-foot lease at 2801 S Western Avenue Chicago on behalf of The Chefs Warehouse. He received his MBA from DePaul University and currently resides in Joliet, IL.
Brendan C. Green, 33, was promoted to vice president from senior associate. Green works in Colliers International’s Industrial Advisory Group, focusing on leasing, sale and development of industrial properties in Northern Cook County and Lake County submarkets. He recently completed a 141,000-square-foot sale for Chicago Food Corporation at 7007 N. Austin Avenue in Niles, IL. Green is an AIRE board member and lives in Chicago, IL.
To Senior Associate
Patrick Turner, 35, was named senior associate from associate. Turner works in Colliers International’s Industrial Advisory Group, teaming with Principal Tom Rodeno. His expertise is in the greater Chicagoland area, with a primary focus in the O’Hare submarket. He recently represented Diversified Labeling Solutions in a 172,842-square-foot lease at 1285 Hamilton Parkway in Itasca. Turner is a resident of Deerfield, IL.

To Account Manager
Gloria Valerugo was promoted to account manager from senior property manager. Valerugo has over 25 years of property management experience, specializing in portfolio management. She currently oversees more than 1.4 million square feet of high-end retail, office, and industrial properties in the Chicago and Kalamazoo, MI markets. Valerugo is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University and currently resides in Chicago, IL.
To Senior Property Manager
Kelly Morrissey was promoted to senior property manager from property manager. Morrissey has held a variety of positions with Colliers International’s Real Estate Management Services Group for the past 8 years. She currently is the lead on-site property manager at Tri-State International Office Center, a four-building, 559,000-square-foot office plaza in Lincolnshire, IL owned by Principal Real Estate Investors. Morrissey resides in Mundelein, IL.
To Senior Property Manager
Susan Houlihan was promoted to senior property manager from property manager. Houlihan has more than 25 years of property management expertise. She is the lead on-site property manager at Oakbrook Terrace Corporate Center III, 1815 Meyers Road, Oakbrook Terrace. The 232,052-square-foot Class A tower is owned by Colony Realty Partners. Houlihan is a resident of Shorewood, IL.
