Colliers International | Chicago moved its downtown operations into approximately 17,000 square feet of new office space at 71 S. Wacker Drive, one of the city’s premier office towers. The customized office space was designed to support wellness, engagement and community and will house Colliers International Valuation and Advisory Services (CIVAS), Chicago’s Office Advisory Group and Corporate Solutions teams.
“Whether by moving to modern office space, or by choosing a building that offers exceptional amenities for our staff, we are fully committed to positioning our teams—and all of our employees—for long-term success,” said Collier’s executive managing director, Jim Carris.
Taking into account employee sentiment and current office trends to customize a workplace experience that is free from distractions, yet fosters collaboration and community, Colliers designed a hybrid office that draws the best from open and traditional office planning models, and elevates the aesthetic and employee experience. The result is a bright and airy layout completewith 83 workspaces, of which 55 are workstations and 28 private offices.
In addition, the new Colliers office includes client work space, wellness rooms and an open café-style break area with moveable furniture for easy rearrangement. The firm worked to support the LEED Platinum standards and status of the property throughout its design, further demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.
“We recognize that open-plan workplaces are not a one-size-fits-all solution to office space,” said Carris. “Comfort was essential but so too was creating an environment that people are excited about. For our team, that meant designing a variety of space options to satisfy our employee’s various business needs.”
Colliers also built in room for growth as the firm continues to actively recruit new talent. “We elevated the Colliers’ workplace experience for current and future employees, at all levels of the organization, and believe that our office will serve as a model for successful offices throughout the organization,” said Carris.
Colliers will continue to have a robust presence in Rosemont where its Industrial Advisory, Supply Chain Logistics, Investment Services and Office Leasing groups sit. The Irvine Company acquired 71 S. Wacker Drive, a 48-story, 1.5 million-square-foot office tower, in 2010 and launched a reinvestment campaign that has attracted a number of top-tier tenants.
