Construction is underway on Last Mile Logistics Center I-55, a state-of-the-art, 316,550-square-foot spec facility located at the intersection of 51st Street and St. Louis Avenue in Chicago. The project developer, Conor Commercial Real Estate, broke ground in June along with Globe Corporation, Alderman Ed Burke and the general contractor, McShane Construction Company.
Situated on 19.6 acres of land with a Class 6b tax incentive, the building will feature 55 truck docks, 36-foot clear height, 71 trailer stalls and 50- by 52-foot bays. Divisible to 50,000 square feet, the facility offers logistical advantages with its close proximity to I-55 and the CTA Orange Line within the South City submarket.
“It is great to see more developments and opportunities coming to the southwest side of Chicago,” said Alderman Burke. “Businesses have great advantages to succeed here because of the close proximity to major expressways, railways and the airport. They are also surrounded by a very dependable and energetic workforce.”
Walter Murphy, a principal in Lee and Associates’ Rosemont office, is market the property on behalf of Conor Commercial Real Estate. Delivery on the project is expected near year-end.
