Convexity Properties has proposed building a 13-story, 307-key hotel at 180 W. Randolph Street, which currently contains a non-operational surface parking lot. According to an email from 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly to his constituents, the select-service hotel would include a lobby and small hotel bar on the ground floor, as well as meeting space on the second floor not to exceed 2,500 square feet.

The proposal includes sidewalk landscaping planters with low vegetation and two shade trees along Randolph Street. Parking for the hotel would be valet-operated and all parking spaces will be located off site. The plan also considers the potential interference of vehicles accessing the hotel with a bicycle lane on the north side of Randolph Street. A delineated drop-off zone for hotel guests with raised curbs and a three-foot buffer would be physically separated from adjacent metered parking and the westbound bicycle lane.

It is undetermined who the hotel operator would be or what brand the hotel would operate under. Convexity Properties has developed a number of hotel properties in Chicago, including the Viceroy Hotel in the Gold Coast, Loews Hotel in Streeterville and the Robey in Wicker Park.
