CSM Corporation announces it has received City Council approval for its Central Park Commons mixed-use commercial project in Eagan. The Council voted 5-0 in favor of the project on February 3, 2015.

CSM has been working closely with the City Planning Commission, City Council and other city staff to define the mixed-use commercial project’s specifications through a collaborative process to ensure a final design that will maximize the benefit to the residents and other users. The 434,000 square-foot approved project includes 387,000 square feet of mixed-use commercial space and a 47,000 square-foot medical office building.

“It has been over four years in the making,” says John Johannson, CSM’s development agent on the project. “We don’t mind saying that the city pushed and guided appropriately when they should have. While the process may have seemed difficult at times, in the end it has worked, and the plan and project are so much improved from where we were originally.”

In addition, Johannson recognized the consulting team that is bringing the project to life. “We appreciate the tireless work from Peter Coyle at Larkin Hoffman, our design team at RSP Architects, our engineers at Alliant Engineering, and the internal team at CSM. Central Park Commons will be the product of a fabulous team working together toward an exciting vision.”

Roughly 240 tons of asbestos has been removed from the vacant Lockheed Martin building on the site, and demolition will begin shortly. CSM plans to commence mass grading of the site in April 2015 with a projected delivery to tenants in 2016. Lease negotiations are underway with a number of potential tenants.
