To accommodate recent growth in Chicago, DLR Group recently moved its 51 design professionals from a 5,500-square-foot fourth floor space at 333 W. Wacker Drive to a new, 10,700-square-foot office in Suite 850. The modern, flexible space features 65 workstations, hoteling stations, four conference rooms, multiple collaboration spaces and an expansive galley and teaming area.
“We have been very successful in growing our practice with local projects, additional design work across the country and the growth of the firm’s national Building Optimization Team, which is based in the Chicago office,” said DLR Group principal Stephen Cavanaugh, AIA. “We are very pleased to remain at 333 West Wacker with additional space to support our integrated design teams.”
Employee wellness is a focus of the design of the new office, with a living wall, real-time indoor air quality monitoring and an intelligent, automated lighting control system in the studio.
DLR Group’s design of the Moxy Chicago Downtown hotel recently opened at LaSalle and Grand. The firm is also designing another Moxy property in Portland, Oregon. Other recent work includes The Rose, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, the Hines T3 timber office buildings in Minneapolis and Atlanta. DLR Group also is working with Barrington 220 School District, Winnetka School District 36 and multiple school districts and universities throughout Illinois on institutional planning and design projects.
