Hillwood Investment Properties announced that Don Schoenheider has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Market Officer to oversee its industrial business in the Chicago area. Schoenheider brings more than 28 years of real estate sales, development and management experience. He will remain based in Chicago, where he will open a new Hillwood office and pursue additional opportunities in the Midwest such as Milwaukee, Indianapolis and Columbus.
Prior to joining Hillwood, Schoenheider served as Vice President and City Manager at Liberty Property Trust, where he was responsible for the company’s Chicago/Milwaukee region. He also served as Co-Leader of Liberty’s National Industrial Practice Group that focuses on strategy, execution and customer relationships for the company’s national industrial portfolio. During his nine-year tenure at Liberty, he led the growth of its Midwest industrial portfolio through development of new warehouse projects and acquisitions totaling nearly 13 million square feet and 350 acres of development land.

An acknowledged expert in industrial development, Schoenheider previously served as Managing Partner of Jones Development Company where he launched their Chicago operation focusing on single tenant, industrial build-to-suits. He also served as Principal of Trammell Crow’s brokerage and corporate services groups, and later was named Managing Director for its entire Chicago-area operation.
Schoenheider holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University and has done graduate work in Public Administration at the University of Illinois-Springfield. He is also currently Mayor of the City of Lake Forest, Illinois.
