Earles Architects and Associates (EAA) has been hired as the architect of the building for One Illinois Center and Two Illinois Center, two iconic office buildings southeast of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive in Chicago. The 111 E. Wacker and 233 N. Michigan Ave. buildings, respectively, total 2.08 million square feet.
EAA will assist the ownership, Equity Commonwealth, with ongoing plans to update building common areas, create spec suites and prepare office space for new tenants. EAA also is overseeing several tenant and base building projects in the buildings.
One Illinois Center, which was designed by Mies van der Rohe, is a 30-story building with 1,009,940 square feet. Two Illinois Center is a 32-story building with 1,071,746 square feet. The overall Illinois Center, which includes three buildings, is part of an 83-acre office and retail complex along the Chicago River.
