Calvin Butler, Exelon’s new CEO is moving to Chicago, where the company “is and will remain” headquartered, according to Crain’s.
Since the announcement of Exelon’s CEO-to-be in October 2022, Exelon’s HQ location has been somewhat of a question mark considering Butler has been based in Baltimore since 2012, leading Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) after Exelon’s acquisition of Constellation Energy.
But Butler’s move is more than a relocation: it’s a homecoming.
Butler began his career in Chicago at Exelon in 2008, and now he’s returning as one of the most prominent figures in the metro business scene. Crain’s reported the CEO will also be joining the Civic Community of the Commercial Club of Chicago and will continue as a board member of his almamater, Bradley University.
Exelon describes itself as the nation’s largest utility company, serving more than 10 million customers through six fully regulated transmission and distribution utilities—Atlantic City Electric (ACE), Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), Delmarva Power & Light (DPL), PECO Energy Company (PECO) and Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco).
