Hiring of Patrick Clay adds to ARCO/Murray’s design-build breadth and continued expansion

Patrick Clay

ARCO/Murray has hired Patrick Clay as director of business development for the tenant solutions division. Clay, an architect by trade, brings a unique perspective to the business development role.

Clay will be charged with identifying and nurturing relationships with industry professionals, as well as expanding ARCO/Murray’s footprint for commercial interior buildouts. He will focus more specifically on adaptive reuse, office, coworking, industrial, building repositioning and entertainment both locally and nationally.

“Having a dedicated resource like Patrick will ensure our Tenant Solutions team is reaching more of the market,” said Ross Allen, principal at ARCO/Murray. “The ultimate goal is to further demonstrate how ARCO’s in-house design-build delivery model can positively impact the industry, clients and our partners.”

Chris Neidhammer, principal of ARCO/Murray’s national tenant solutions division, echoed that statement adding, “We wholeheartedly believe design-build solves the common challenges of interior buildouts, and Patrick’s experience in the architectural arena can speak to its value across all geographic areas and market conditions. His passion to convert businesses to a better way to build is powerful.”

Prior to ARCO/Murray, Clay was a director at Partners by Design. He also spent eight years at SOM as a lead project manager responsible for directing large teams through all phases of architectural and interior design. His work spanned across the corporate, cultural, residential and transportation industries. In Chicago, Clay was the lead project manager for the planning and development of the civil and landscape work for Lincoln Yards. He also led the design efforts for a research and development center in China and a 2.3-million-square-foot campus for a multi-national organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

“I’m excited to join ARCO/Murray and challenge myself and my career trajectory in a new way,” said Clay. “I always talked about this type of delivery model, so I couldn’t be more thrilled to immerse myself in the world of design-build and help clients realize greater cost and schedule efficiency.”

Clay is an active member of the National Organization of Minority Architects. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor of architecture degree in 2006. Patrick will work out of ARCO/Murray’s downtown Chicago office.
